For future upgrades, and saving file space, you may want to save your SODAColor presentation as a SODAColor Export file. This is basically a text file with a series of instructions which allow SODAColor to be imported into Macromedia™Director.
You can also import SODAColor Export files into SODAColor itself. This is done by selecting IMPORT from the SODAColor menu.
In addition to Export files, SODAColor allows you to import special files created on a word processor. Instructions for creating one of these files follows.
CREATING SODAColor presentations on a word processor:
To design SODAColor stacks in a word processor, use the following format:
1. The first line of text should read:
SODAColor MakeFile
2. Next, give a title for your first chapter:
•Chapter:Psychoanalysis
3. Next, a title. If you leave the title blank, the title field will inherit the name of the chapter:
•Title:
4. Then enter the material for the Notes-field:
•Note:The roots of Psychoanalytic theory can be traced back to...
5. Finally, you close with:
•Card.
6. Additional cards can be added by simply repeating the steps:
•Title:Authors
•Note:We will discuss the following authors in this course:
(1) Kant
(2) Hegel
(3) Nietzche
•Card.
•Title:Kant
•Note:In The Critique of Pure Reason we see the roots of...
•Card.
•Title:Germany 1890
•Note:It is important to understand the state of Europe during the late...
•Card.
etc...
7. You can add a new chapter by typing "•Chapter:" and the name of your new chapter before the next "•Title:". For instance, the following segment creates a "Dostoyevski" chapter following the "Psychoanalytic Theory" chapter:
•Chapter:Psychoanalytic Theory
•Title:Freud
•Note:The roots of Psychoanalytic theory can be traced back to...
•Card.
•Title:Dostoyevski
•Note:Dostoyevski's writing inspired Henry Miller to...
•Card.
This method allows you to structure larger presentations without having to enter everything in by hand ( or through tedious copy+paste procedures). Files need to be saved as plain text or "ASCII" files (the kind TeachText makes). This method will be supported with future versions of SODAColor.
There is an example Import file which came with your copy of SODAColor. This file will add 3 cards to your presentation. Two of the cards will be in a new chapter called "DADA", and the third card will be in a chapter all its own called "Transpersonal Psychology." The script of this file follows.
SODAColor MakeFile
•Chapter:DADA
•Title:Duchamp
•Note:
Marcel Duchamp was the most important artist of the 20th century.
